Keeping Your eLearning Training Current: Time to Update - Interactive Services

Written by E&C Expert | Mar 22, 2017 4:00:00 AM

When you have a larger company with a sizable staff, e-learning is the most efficient and cost-effective way to train your staff in company compliance. Keeping employees up to date on compliance training is much easier when they can access a training program at their convenience.

Unlike live classroom training, which can easily change with each new class, an e-learning compliance training needs to have a team regularly updating so it can stay relevant. Otherwise you may end up with a training full of date regulations or technology that no longer connects with your employees.

In order to keep your training current with your company and technological advancements, consider making the following updates annually:

  • Company compliance policies. Policies around compliance often change. Even if the changes are small, your company needs to update the policies in the training to avoid confusing staff.
  • Videos and other media in the training. Videos and music get less compelling when the popular song you’re playing in the background went out of style years ago, and the person in the training video left the company. Updating media keeps the quality high and the content interesting to employees repeating the training.
  • General technological improvements. Technology improves so quickly that even an e-learning course that’s just a few years old can seem out of date. Have your IT or training department continually update your tech.
  • Examples, activities, and simulations. Employees who take the training annually will get tired of doing the same activities and seeing the same examples. Keep the course material novel to fully engage the learning potential of all employees.
  • Pre and post-tests. If your pre-tests and exams stay the same, your employees will start to remember the answers from past years. New tests will ensure they still remember the compliance policies, rather than just memorizing the tests.
