We just wrapped up a dynamic session at SCCE’s Utilities & Energy Compliance and Ethics Conference in Washington, D.C. This year we were pleased to partner with Bill Cameron, Assistant General Counsel and Manager of Ethics of Exelon Business Services Company, to showcase best practices around Code re-invention during the dynamics of a merger & acquisition. Exelon’s family of companies represent every stage of the energy value chain, from power generation to transmission and delivery. With a footprint across 48 states, and a workforce of 34,000 nationwide, their merger was an opportunity to recalibrate the integrations of business and culture.

The collaborative LRN & Exelon session explored all aspects and strategies of a Code re-invention against the climate of a dynamic M&A environment, budget pressures and changing timelines. Topics included a tactical discussion around building stakeholder buy-in, benefits of partnering with LRN’s vision and expertise, the tactical aspects of a Code re-invention process, developing a values-based decision making framework and managing through complex time tables.

The audience was particularly interested in some of the high-touch options to keep the concepts of the Code top of mind, such as mobile delivery, the eCode, pocket booklets for quick reference and being sensitive to multi-generational communication strategies.
